Christopher and I have had a busy year speaking to various groups. We have shared our message of happiness, overcoming adversity, and developing and employing skills to combat and conquer the worldly influences that try to torpedo our positive energy foundation. We have spoke to two different schools, three different wards, and today, I spoke at the Utah State Bar convention to an audience of about a 100 lawyers. I was a little nervous about today's presentation because so many of my peers were in attendance. I also missed having Christopher with me, but he was busy swimming and riding the Polaris Razor with his brother.
Although I worried that a group of lawyers may not be interested in one of their peers talking with them about keys and strategies to finding and maintaining happiness, I was pleasantly surprised. I did not see a single person get up and leave during my one hour presentation, and when it was all done, many lined up to tell me how grateful they were for my message. It was a great day!
In April, we are looking forward to speaking at the Intermountain Health Care Newborn Intensive Care Conference at the Provo Convention Center. This will be a wonderful opportunity because many of the attendees will be people that took care of Christopher after he was born (weighing only 1 pound and 3 ounces) and until his discharge 5 months later on my birthday. Christopher, of course, will be the star of that show, and his wonderful mama, Alice, will be there as well. The last time many of them saw Christopher was when he was sent home with the expectation that he would soon die due to his failing liver. We can't wait for our NICU family to see how far he has come almost 13 years later!
